PRAY FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH by Jeffrey A. Wingo

Christians are suffering horribly under the tyranny of the Islamic beast. According to an article by the BBC, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) was formed out of al-Qaeda in Iraq in April 2013. {1} It has since then spread to Syria and is now one of the most powerful jihadist groups in the Middle East. Its reign of terror continues to advance against the governments of both Syria and Iraq every day.
ISIS has targeted Christians and other minority groups and given them three choices: convert to Islam, pay a religious tax (jizya), or death. According to one spokesman for ISIS, “if they refuse this they will have nothing but the sword.” {2} And as we have seen, nothing but terror, brutality, and death come from this satanically energized group.
As ISIS continues its reign of terror, Christians are brutally butchered, crucified, raped, and systematically destroyed. Centuries old Christian culture is ravaged and annihilated and Christians are forced to flee as the monstrous beast continues its reign of terror in the region.
Please pray for the persecuted church in Iraq and Syria. They need our prayers to sustain them in this brutal trial. Men, women, and children are suffering and many are dying a martyr’s death as the West waffles and plays political games, especially here in the United States.
OUR BLESSED HOPE
Our only hope in the world is the return of the King. At the Second Coming Jesus will destroy evil and Satan will be consigned to the abyss; then the Millennial reign of Christ will begin. The Great Physician will bring healing and peace to our weary planet, and He will bring justice as the government of the world rest on His shoulders.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:6).
The Kingdom of God is not of this world
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence (John 18:36).
